Parallel Aerial Cable. Aluminum Conductors - THREE CONDUCTOR-6201 ALLOY NEUTRAL-MESSENGER
Application
Used as secondary overhead distribution cable at voltages of 600V or less phase to phase and at conductor temperatures not to exceed 90°C for crosslinked polyethylene (XLP) insulated conductors.Standards
- ASTM B-230 Aluminum Wire, 1350-H19 for Electrical Purposes.
- ASTM B-231 Aluminum Conductors, Concentric-Lay-Stranded.
- ASTM B-232 Aluminum Conductors, Concentric-Lay-Stranded, Coated Steel Reinforced (ACSR).
- ASTM B-399 Concentric-Lay-Stranded, 6201-T81 Aluminum Alloy Conductors.
- Meets or exceeds all applicable requirements of ANSI/ICEA S-76-474.
Construction
Conductors are concentrically stranded, compressed 1350-H19 aluminum, insulated with crosslinked polyethylene (XLP). Neutral messengers are either 6201 aluminum alloy or ACSR. The phase conductors are paralleled with the neutral messenger, and bound together with binder wire (1350-H19 aluminum alloy, #10, covered with high density polyethylene). Multi-conductor cables incorporate stripes or ridges for phase identification.
Notes
**Designated sizes are: ACSR 6/1 diameter equivalent resistivity per ASTM B-399 for 6201.+Ampacity figures for black insulation only (gray will vary slightly).
Conductor temperatures of 90°C for XLP; ambient temperature of 40°C; emissivity 0.9; 2 ft./sec. wind in sun. -
